Global Adiponectin Antibody Market Size, Share and Trends Analysis Report, By Application (ELISA, Western Blotting, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), and Other), Forecast Period (2022-2028)

The global adiponectin antibody market is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 6.2% during the forecast period (2022-2028). Growing demand for adiponectin antibody in Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) and western blotting analysis is driving the growth of the adiponectin antibody market. Adiponectin is a lipid and glucose metabolism-regulating protein hormone released primarily by adipocytes. Adiponectin has been linked to a variety of physiological functions, including homeostasis and obesity.

Adiponectin, also known as AdipoQ, Acrp30, apM1, and GBP28, is a kind of adipokine found only in brown and white adipocytes. It exists in three major forms: a low molecular weight trimer, a medium molecular weight hexamer, and a high molecular weight multimer, all of which are secreted into the bloodstream. Obese and insulin-resistant rodents and humans have lower levels of adiponectin, suggesting that this adipokine is important for maintaining insulin sensitivity.

In skeletal muscle, adiponectin increases AMPK phosphorylation at Thr172 and activation. In myocytes, it also promotes glucose absorption. The effect of adiponectin on glucose uptake is inhibited when AMPK activation is blocked by a dominant-negative AMPK2 isoform, demonstrating that adiponectin stimulates glucose uptake and enhances insulin sensitivity through its action on AMPK. The AMPK pathway is unaffected by adiponectin mutants that are unable to form oligomers larger than trimers. Human diabetes is linked to mutations in adiponectin that prevent it from forming high molecular weight multimers, highlighting the importance of multimerization for adiponectin action.

Some major players in the market include Abcam plc, BioLegend, Inc., Merck KGaA, Novus Biologicals, and Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., among others. The market players are contributing significantly to the growth of the market by the adoption of various strategies including mergers & acquisitions, geographical expansion, partnerships and collaborations, and new product launches, to stay competitive in the market.

Company’s Product Portfolio

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. offers Adiponectin Antibodies that can be utilized in a variety of scientific applications, including Western blot, Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin), Immunocytochemistry, Flow Cytometry, and ELISA. Adiponectin is the target of these antibodies in human, mouse, rat, porcine, and rabbit samples. Mouse, Rabbit, and Goat monoclonal, polyclonal, recombinant monoclonal, and recombinant polyclonal antibodies to Adiponectin have been produced. To establish specificity to Adiponectin, these antibodies were tested using Cell treatment, Relative expression, and an independent antibody.

Bio-Techne Corp. offers Adiponectin/Acrp30 Antibody, A synthetic peptide based on the human Adiponectin C-terminal sequence (between amino acids 200-244). This recognizes an epitope in the 244 amino acid protein Adiponectin’s C-terminal region (CT).
