Shunt Voltage Reference market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.74% during the forecast period. The shunt voltage reference has two terminals: GND and OUT. This is similar to the concept of a Zener diode, but with much better specifications. They require an external resistor like a zener diode and work in parallel with the load. The shunt reference acts as a variable current sink that controls the reference voltage, thus creating a variable resistor divider that delivers a constant voltage at the output node. An external resistor is required for adjustment, but there is no maximum rated voltage for the classification criteria.
