Global Single Surface Anti Reflective Glass Market Size, Share and Trends Analysis Report, By Type (Transparent and Translucent), By Application (Residential Buildings, Office Buildings, Malls, and Others), Forecast (2022-2028)

The single surface anti-reflective glass market is anticipated to grow at a significant CAGR of 5.6% during the forecast period (2022-2028). To remove reflections and boost light transmission, anti-reflective glass has been optically treated on one or both sides. It improves contrast definition by reducing surface glare and increasing substrate transmission and brightness throughout a certain wavelength range. The major factors driving the growth of the market are rising usage of single surface anti-reflective glasses in residential buildings, LCD displays, office buildings, malls and many more industrial areas. Among all these applications, the residential buildings segment is expected to propel the growth of the market due to the rising demand for anti-reflective glasses for partitions and showcases. The demand for new interior infrastructure has recently increased in both developed and developing countries. The majority of the demand comes from residential and commercial structures. In interior design, anti-reflective glass can be utilized as a decorative panel. The glass can be used in buildings for sliding doors, storm doors, building entrances, bath and shower enclosures, internal partitions, stairs, building facades, and other applications that require exceptional strength and safety.

The market players are also contributing significantly to the growth of the market by the adoption of various strategies including mergers & acquisitions, geographical expansion, partnerships and collaborations, and new product launches, to stay competitive in the market. For instance, in June 2019, AGC Inc. launched its optimized Clearsight anti-reflective glass. The glass’s special magnetron coating cuts light reflection to less than 1%, delivering near-perfect transparency and making the product the ideal solution for viewing platforms, shop windows and showcases. This innovative glass can be used annealed or heat-treated, and further processed into a curved glass or enhanced via silk screen printing and digital printing. By combining minimal reflection with a high light transmission of 98%, it offers greater clarity and improved vision through the glass. The float glass commonly used for showcases and shop windows reflects about 8% of visible light.

Similarly, in May 2020, Essilor Ltd. extended its anti-reflective coating, Crizal drive, across a wider range of designs. Previously, the coating has been exclusive to its roadpilot driving lens. The coating delivers up to 90% fewer reflections when driving at night. The company suggests that by minimising the level of reflections, the coating helps to decrease the sensation of glare for the wearer.
