It is a long-acting recombinant factor VIII  product for the prevention and treatment of bleeding in individuals with hemophilia A.

In 2019, Novo Nordisk had received the USFDA approval of the biological license application for Esperoct. The approval was based on clinical trials designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the therapy in 270 previously treated patients with hemophilia A. In April 2019, Roche had announced the launch of Emicizumab in India for hemophilia A. It is indicated as a prophylactic treatment to reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes.
