Axial-flow compressors are gas compressors that can continuously pressurize gas. It is a rotating, airfoil-based compressor in which gas or working fluid flows mainly parallel to or axially to the rotating axis. The basic components of an axial flow compressor are the rotor blade and stator or fixed blade, the former blade carrying a moving blade and the latter a row of fixed blades. Because of this, the energy level of the fluid increases when it flows through the compressor due to the action of the rotor blade to exert torque on the fluid. Stationary blades slow down the liquid, converting the circumferential components of the flow into pressure. Compressors are usually driven by gas turbines, electric motors or steam. Axial-flow compressors differ from other rotary compressors (axiom centrifugal compressors, mixed-flow compressors and centrifugal compressors), in which the fluid flows through the compressor and contains a “radial component”. Axial flow compressors are an integral part of air separation units used in the industry.
