Global COVID Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment Market Size, Share and Trends Analysis Report, By Type (Lianhua Qingwen Capsule, Xuebijing Injection, Jinhua Qinggan Granule), Forecast Period (2022-2028)
The global COVID traditional Chinese medicine treatment market is anticipated to grow at a significant CAGR during the forecast period (2022-2028). Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been shown to be useful in the treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) that occurred in 2003. (SARS). Many Chinese patients with COVID-19, according to official Chinese press reports, benefit from TCM. The distinction of syndromes is an important feature of Chinese medicine. According to TCM theory, COVID-19 has four stages: early-stage, medium stage, severe stage, and recovery stage.
Most patients suffer symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, and chills in the early stages of COVID-19, said Dr. Liwei Yin, first author of the study and a physician at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine’s First Affiliated Hospital. “This is the lungs’ manifestation of heat, cold, or wetness.” The top three Chinese herbs used in this stage are Kuxingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum), Baidoukou (Amomum kravanh), and Houpo (Magnolia Officinalis Cortex).
Most patients have TCM symptoms of plague toxin blocking the lungs when in the middle stage. The most commonly utilized Chinese herbs in this period include Kuxingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), and Tinglizi (Descurainiae Semen). Dyspnea and coma were the most common presenting symptoms in the severe stage. Often, a mechanical ventilator and ECMO are required. The top three Chinese herbs used in this period are Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), and Shanyurou (Fructus Corni). “Fuzi reduces heart failure, but it also has neurotoxicity and cardiac toxicity,” said Dr Ziping Li, a professor at Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the study’s primary author for communication. “When Gancao and Ganjiang are used simultaneously, the efficacy and toxicity of Fuzi can be controlled.”
Patients with TCM syndromes of Lung-spleen qi insufficiency and Qi-yin deficiency frequently experience TCM syndromes of Lung-spleen qi deficiency and Qi-yin deficiency throughout the healing period. The most commonly utilized Chinese herbs in this stage are Fuling (Poria), Fabanxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), and Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium). “Combining Chinese herbs can improve their efficiency while reducing negative effects,” Liwei Yin explained. “High-frequency herb pairs and possible herbal combinations were also discovered as a result of this research.”
